International 2017 roster shuffle: Planet Odd signs Thunderbirds
The ex-Digital Chaos and current Thunderbirds Dota 2 roster has been signed by Planet Odd, a new entrant into the esports scene. Thunderbirds have been playing without a sponsor since they left Digital Chaos in April this year.
Earlier today, Planet Odd announced on its Twitter and Facebook pages that it has signed Thunderbirds as its new Dota 2 roster for their further conquests.

It is surprising to see the TI6 finalists opt for a sponsor that is very new to the esports scene as they’ve had the reputation of playing with big names such as Digital Chaos. After leaving Digital Chaos, the squad faced a lot of difficulties as they failed to qualify for Premier tournaments. But, all that changed as they successfully qualified for Epicenter.
After leaving Digital Chaos just before the Kiev Major, Thunderbirds boot camped in Europe for the rest of the preparation period. At the Kiev Major, they faltered to Evil Geniuses in the Round of 16, eventually finishing in the 9-16th place.
After a failed major campaign, Thunderbirds set their sights on qualifying for a Premier tournament. First came the Summit 7 qualifiers where they lost to Team NP in the Losers’ final as they finished 3rd. Next came the Epicenter qualifiers, where they beat Team NP 2-0 in the Bo3 grand finals.
After qualifying for the Epicenter, it was rumored that Thunderbirds was searching for a new sponsor to fund their campaign for TI7 to which their invite is nothing but secured. It was also rumored that they would be joining Team Spirit but had to back out due to salary and funding issues.
With TI7 in their sights, they had to sign up with a sponsor and luckily, Planet Odd was in search of a Dota 2 roster.
