It was no surprise when Team Liquid defeated SEA powerhouse Team Faceless 2-0 at the second iteration of StarLadder i-League invitational. With Group B matches kicking off today, Team Liquid has already laid the first steps towards the battle for a direct invite to TI7.
Team Liquid comfortably took the series 2-0 with an aggressive lineup in game 1 against Faceless which saw them taking it in just 23 minutes. The same story repeated in game 2 where Liquid took the game in 26 minutes, thus ending the series in under an hour. Let us take a look at both the games.
Game 1 started off with a bang as Team Liquid gave the first blood to Faceless. That was the only good thing for Faceless in the whole game as they were consistently ripped apart by Miracle’s Tinker.
Miracle finished his Boots of Travel by eight minutes, Aether’s Lens by 17 minutes and his Dagon by 23 minutes. Matumbaman’s Ursa on the other hand completed his Diffusal Blade by 22 minutes.
With all the tier 3 towers gone, Faceless were left with their eyes wide open and called GG by the 23rd minute, thus stopping the humiliation they were facing.
Game 2 repeated the events of Game 1 as Faceless claimed the first blood on Miracle’s Earthshaker. Miracle died 3 more times in the span of 6 minutes. But, Faceless couldn’t take the gold advantage, thanks to Matumbaman’s Lone Druid. A team fight went awry for Faceless as they further extended Team Liquid’s lead.
It was the Matumbaman show this time around as he claimed 7 kills and died only once in the entire game. Team Liquid never faced any trouble in defeating Faceless as they advanced to the Group Finals.
