Almost a year after TI6, most of us have a question lingering on our mind. What happened to the teams which participated in TI6? Let us see what happened to Escape Gaming and what are its players upto.

Coming into TI6 as one of the four wildcard teams, Escape Gaming had a lot of work to be done if they had to finish in a respectable position. With a great team at their disposal, Escape Gaming were expected to finish in a decent position.

Pre-TI6

In February 2016, syndereN formed No Diggity along with Era, qojqva and YapzOr. They first made an appearance in the Epicenter regional qualifiers. Khezu joined in later as an offlaner and completed the full roster. They won the Epicenter regional qualifiers from the European Region but eventually fell to Complexity in the Wild Card round. After coming 4th in the DreamLeague  Season 5 League Play, they were picked up by German organisation Escape Gaming just in time for TI6.

Qualifiers

Escape Gaming were invited to the regional qualifiers from the European Region. They finished second in the group stage, much to everyone’s surprise. Despite such a strong showing, they failed to defeat Alliance in the semifinals and finished third in the qualifiers. Thanks to their third place finish, they had one more shot at qualifying for TI6 from the Wild Card round. They defeated Execration and secured their place at TI6.

At the Event

Escape Gaming were drawn into Group A alongside teams like Wings Gaming, OG, LGD, Na’Vi, Evil Geniuses and giant killers TNC.

Day 1

Escape Gaming drew 1-1 with Na’Vi in the first set of matches. Then, they lost 2-0 to LGD Gaming. In the final set of matches on day 1, Escape Gaming couldn’t grab the win that they desperately wanted as they fell 2-0 to Wings Gaming. After day 1, they were in the last place with a record of 0-1-2.

Day 2

Day 2 went even worse for them as they lost 2-0 to Evil Geniuses and 2-0 to favorites OG. With day 2 coming to a close, Escape Gaming still couldn’t find a win as they remained last placed in the group with a record of 0-1-4.

Day 3

Escape Gaming drew with Alliance on day 3 and lost to all Filipino TNC Pro Team. Without a single series win in the group stage, Escape Gaming remained the last placed team, hence dropping down to the lower bracket. They finished the group stage 0-2-5.

The Main Event

Escape Gaming’s dreams of finishing in the top 10 came to an end as they lost their crucial Bo1 lower bracket match against Fanatic. They crashed out of the tournament along with Na’Vi, Team Secret and VG.R.

Post TI6

Except for a first place in the DreamLeague Season 5 League play and finishing runners up in the main tournament, Escape Gaming couldn’t produce any favorable results. KheZu replaced Forev as Team Secret’s offlaner while YapzOr left for B)ears to try his luck in the Kiev Major qualfiers. Without a team, the remaining three players left the organisation and went on to form a team named January 25th. They were eventually picked up by Ninjas in Pyjamas.  with H4nni and Trixi joining them.

syndereN left Ninjas in Pyjamas later and joined the Kiev Major broadcast talent as an analyst. His analysis of the games earned him much acclaim.

After a few days, NiP announced that up and coming talent, iNsania would be replacing syndereN and the team would start competing for the TI7 qualifiers.

Currently, Escape Gaming has no Dota 2 roster.
