Rumor: Team Random to disband with 4 players to retire from professional Dota
TI6 champions, Team Random(ex-Wings Gaming) is reportedly going to disband with 4 of the five players to retire temporarily.
It was announced right before the Kiev Major that the players of Wings Gaming have left the organisation and are going to play in the Kiev Major as Team Random. After their disappointing last place finish in the Kiev Major, Team Random apparently, is going to disband. It is not yet revealed which player is still going to play professional Dota.
This news was revealed earlier today by Jack ‘KBBQ‘ Chen, who is said to have close ties to the team. He tweeted:
It is a sad moment as these players have defined the meaning of versatility in Dota as they drafted a staggering 60 heroes in the whole tournament, recording the highest ever played by a team in The International Dota 2 Championships. This being said, their performances have been mediocre after TI6 as they finished 10th in the group stages of the Dota2 Professional League Season 2, 5-6th place at the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3, a disappointing collapse in the DAC 2017 and also failed to qualify for the Manila Masters.
Team Random winning the TI6 was the sole reason they got invited to all these events despite their poor performances. Their only good performance came in the ESL One Genting as they finished in the 3-4th places.
This is how Ryuu of Team Red reacted:
But this doesn’t stop them from making a comeback like many other players did, notably Fear, BurNIng, and RotK. Good luck to the players of Team Random, wherever they might go and thanks for entertaining us over the years!
