Day 2 of the Kiev Major 2017 Group Stage saw a staggering 14 Bo3 series being played. Let us take a few moments to look at the recap of Day 2 of the Kiev Major.
Round 3
Round 3 was divided into 3 groups, namely high, middle, and low. The high group consisted of Team Secret, Virtus.Pro, Chinese powerhouse Invictus Gaming, and the talking point of the Kiev Major, TNC Pro Gaming. The middle group included fan favorites OG, TI6 winners Team Random, Thunderbirds, EG, Team Liquid, VG.J, Newbee, and Digital Chaos. The low group comprised of IG’s sister team IG.V, Mousesports, Faceless, and newcomers SG-esports.
The first matches of the day started with Virtus.Pro taking a comfortable 2-0 series win against TNC Pro Gaming. The highlight of the match was TNC.TIMS saving Kuku from certain death. You can check out the highlight here.

At the same time, Evil Geniuses won 2-0 as they stomped Newbee in the second game of the series. Elsewhere Thunderbirds defeated VG.J 2-1 to reach the high group of the 4th round and Mousesports beat IG.V 2-0. In the match against Faceless, SG e-sports threw a 12k gold lead as a team fight in the 48th minute turned awry with Faceless taking advantage thereafter.
OG beat Team Random for a place in the Round 4 high group. Digital Chaos took down Team Liquid 2-1 in an exhilarating 3 game series, the third game being played for over 75 minutes.
Round 4
In the Round 4 high group, Evil Geniuses lost to in-form Invictus Gaming 2-1 which included a 65-minute second game where EG had a clear chance to make a comeback. But, IG prevailed and got the 3rd seed for the main event. OG took down Thunderbirds while TNC once again proved to the world why it is called the giant killer by defeating Digital Chaos and placing 4th for the main event.
The low bracket consisted expected wins for mouz and Team Liquid, while Newbee got a chance at redemption by defeating local rivals Team Random 2-0.
