TI6 News: Main Event Live Results and Highlights (Day 1)

Over the course of the next five days, a champion among champions will emerge from the field of battle to claim the TI6 title and take home the prize.

And that prize isn’t chump change, either. The total prize pool for TI6 now stands at over $20 million, and the grand champion can look forward to taking over $8.5 mil of that home.

After a grueling Group Stage, it was determined that teams OG, MVP, DC, Wings, Ehome, Alliance, EG, and Newbee would begin the Main Event in the upper bracket. In the lower bracket games today, you’ll be seeing TNC, VG.R, Secret, LGD, Fnatic, Escape, Navi, and Liquid playing.

All the matches of the upper bracket, save the grand finals, will be conducted in a best of three fashion, with the grand finals being a best of five. The lower bracket begins with a best of one match, with all games following being best of three.

  • Upper Bracket Quarter Finals: OG vs MVP; DC vs Wings
  • Lower Bracket Round 1: TNC vs VG.R; Scret vs LGD; Fnatic vs Escape; Navi vs Liquid

The next games in this series will begin as soon as previous matches conclude, so make full use of the drafting phase to grab snacks and stretch your legs.

The TI6 broadcast begins at 10 AM PDT and the games themselves start at 10:30 AM PDT.

The outcomes of games will be posted as soon as I am able. I expect that, much like last week, highlights vids will become more scarce as we approach the end of the week, but I’ll be sure to include those as well when they become available.

I was looking at the day long compilations of the Group Stage and noticed that something like 36 hours of DotA have been played during those three days alone.
