Evil Geniuses receives the second invite to EPICENTER: MOSCOW
Evil Geniuses have been confirmed as the second invited team to the premier Dota 2 tournament EPICENTER: MOSCOW. It was announced on the official EPICENTER twitter page.
Yesterday, EPICENTER released a video on their Facebook and Twitter pages which provided hints as to which team would receive the invite. The video consisted of the six million dollar echo slam, clearly indicating that Evil Geniuses would be the team to receive the second direct invite.
The first iteration of the EPICENTER was held last year and received acclaim from the fans for their production value. Team Liquid took home $250,000 as they defeated Chinese team Newbee. It hasn’t been confirmed yet as to whether the reigning champions would be receiving a direct invite.
EPICENTER had already invited the Kiev Major champions OG in April because of their Boston Major win and their strong showing in the LANs thereafter. There are still 4 more direct invites to be announced before the tournament starts in June.
Qualifiers
Four teams are going to come through the qualifiers, one for each of the CIS+Europe, Americas, SEA and the Chinese regions. The open qualifiers for the regions have already started in all the regions. The closed qualifiers will take place from May 6 to May 14 in each region.

The group stage will be held from June 4 to June 7. 10 teams will be divided into 2 groups of five teams each where matches will be played in a round robin fashion. The top 2 teams will advance to the semifinals directly while the other teams will battle it out for the remaining two places.
