26. Wraith King

Nothing like an unstoppable being of ectoplasmic power to spice things up. His slow attack speed early game and mostly passive skillset make him easy to ignore – until it’s too late. As soon as he farms up enough to augment the rate of his swinging sword, you’ll find he tends to cut down his enemies like chaff.

Hero counters: as long as you don’t pull a Ghostbuster’s 2 and allow the King to build up too much power, things will probably turn out alright. Probably. Carries we like against Wraith King: Outworld Devourer, Anit-Mage, Medusa, Meepo, and Phantom Lancer. Support/utility heroes we favor against this burly bad guy: Beastmaster, Keeper of the Light, Treant, and Rubick.

Item counters: anything that vaporizes the mana he needs to reincarnate. So, really I’m talking about Diffusal Blade/Manta Style. Also desirable are things that stop him from attacking and getting bonus regen from his aura. Basher/Abyssal, Guinsoo’s, and evasion items (Butterfly, Heaven’s Halberd, Solar Crest) can do just that.
