In one of the most exciting games of the year, if not all time, EG turned a desperate situation around on Ehome to come back for the win. Never say GG.

It’s a pesky impulse. To throw in the towel. To call it quits. To look to that oncoming wave of creep and, for the first time in over an hour, to lay down your weapons and let the ravager fires burn away any memory of your failure.

To type those fateful letters, “GG.” We’ve all been there. But as I said, it’s a pesky impulse.

In game 1 of round 2 of the Upper Bracket at TI6, team EG showed us exactly why you should never say die. After all, those who don’t fight until the bitter end never get a chance to savor the sweet, sweet taste of nectar from the holy grail of eSports…

The comeback.

Gotta Be Bad before It Turns Good

Oh and it was. Bad, I mean. Ehome had a considerable advantage for the entire game, with team advantage at one point dipping in their favor as much as 20k. But EG stuck with it.

Even in the face of Mega Creep, EG hung on! They fashioned the closest thing you can get to a magical gatling gun by equipping Zai (Shadow Demon), SumaiL (Mirana), and PPD (Ancient Apparition) with Dagons. They played defense and played it hard.

Triple, in this case - still the image was too good to pass up.

But the Mega Creep were too much. EG was managing to hold off the horde, but only just barely. It wasn’t until Universe (Void) farmed up a Divine Rapier that, in a slapdash sprint to Ehome’s ancient, they cut their way through their enemies and won the game.

This is easily in my top ten games of DotA of all time. I still need some time to process it before I rank it with the likes of Dendi’s Puck TP deny in Navi’s game against Alliance of yore, but I’d recommend watching the entire game.

Below you’ll find highlights and a full-length clip.

PSA: Fight the Good Fight

I know it’s tempting, when all hope seems lost, to type those two, game-ending letters. It’s easy. Too easy. Believe me, your entire life will get a jolt of positivity when you finally have one of these comeback games.

The pros did us right, this time. They showed us – never give up. Never GG.
