5. Jakiro

The second two headed hero on this list, Jak pushes with the best of them while bringing to bear excellent nuking potential along with some disably goodness. A little extra intelligence in the form of a Null Talisman can be helpful at the start, and Veil of Discord is fairly typical in his core build.

High winrate items on Jakiro:

  • Octarine Core (73.17%)
  • Shiva’s Guard (71.54%)
  • Guardian Greaves (68.55%)
  • Aghanim’s Scepter (66.89%)
  • Scythe of Vyse (66.01%)
  • Pipe of Insight (62.75%)
  • Aether Lens (61.03%)

4. Crystal Maiden

No matter the situation or circumstance, CM can almost always improve the situation of her team. Aside from her truly deplorable move speed (you’ll be wanting BoTs on this chick), her global mana regen aura is one of the best things about her. Until you need a disable or a nuke. She has those, too. Wand and Blink Dagger are pretty standard on her, and situationally Ghost Scepter can work well late game.

High winrate items on CM:

  • Shiva’s Guard (75.12%)
  • Guardian Greaves (72.60%)
  • Aghanim’s Scepter (70.14%)
  • Scythe of Vyse (69.83%)
  • Aether Lens (66.26%)
  • Black King Bar (65.63%)
  • Eul’s (62.57%)

3. Lich

The Lich will send a chill through your enemies, and rightly so. He can decrease enemy exp by cannibalizing his own units for mana with Sacrifice, and once he gets Chain Frost, it’s only a matter of time before two heroes stand too close together and he’s able to work his magic. He can be a little squishy at the beginning of the game, so you might want to throw some Gauntlets on his bony hands. Urn is an excellent early game item for him, and Mekansm is regularly built on him

expressly to increase his support factor.

High winrate items on Lich:

  • Shiva’s Guard (73.04%)
  • Guardian Greaves (70.94%)
  • Scythe of Vyse (68.38%)
  • Refresher Orb (65.70%)
  • Pipe of Insight (63.97%)
  • Aghanim’s Scepter (63.91%)
  • Aether Lens (63.61%)

2. Abaddon

I hated this guy when he first came out, and truth be told, he still gets on my nerves. He just doesn’t die, which is part of what makes him such an excellent support. Even without items, he can stack on damage, heal allies, or be the saving grace in turnaround moments with Aphotic Shield. Ring of the Basilius and Wand are good early game items, and Mekansm will make him infuriatingly hard to kill. And I’m speaking from experience when I say that.

High winrate items on Abaddon:

  • Moon Shard (81.90%)
  • Eye of Skadi (76.11%)
  • Radiance (75.15%)
  • Assault Cuirass (74.54%)
  • Abyssal Blade (73.74%)
  • Heart of the Tarrasque (72.63%)
  • Guardian Greaves (71.55%)
  • Daedalus (71.18%)

1. Omniknight

If by “Omniknight” they meant “knight that can fight nearly anything,” then I’d say they did a good job naming this guy. Degen Aura slows enemies down, Purification both heals and harms, Repel grants spell immunity – even without items, Omniknight has tons of ways he can save teammates while tripping up the opposition. Ring of the Basilius and Wand are good start-off items. And, to be honest, those two should be good enough until there’s less need for you to dump your money into consumables for your team. Then you can get your own economy working for you.

Not if you've got Repel cast on yourself, I won't.

High winrate items on Omni:

  • Shiva’s Guard (80.17%)
  • Bloodstone (70.18%)
  • Refresher Orb (77.96%)
  • Radiance (77.14%)
  • Guardian Greaves (75.67%)
  • Heart of the Tarrasque (75.25%)
  • Aghanim’s Scepter (74.71%)

Honorable Mentions

Bane

The hero with a face you can’t help loving. His smile could use some work, though. Bane’s ability Nightmare gives him excellent shutdown potential, while Brain Sap hurts enemy heroes while restoring his health. Soul Ring and a Null Talisman are nice early game items, and though they didn’t make the high winrate list below. Glimmer Cape and Ghost Scepter can be strong choices later in the game for Bane, depending on circumstance.

High winrate items on Bane:

  • Guardian Greaves (67.29%)
  • Scythe of Vyse (67.00%)
  • Necronomicon (63.75%)
  • Black King Bar (58.89%)
  • Aghanim’s Scepter (56.51%)
  • Eul’s (53.33%)
  • Aether Lens (53.10%)

Shadow Shaman

With two effective disables and some spike on the side with Ether Shock, Rhasta the Shadow Shaman isn’t someone you want to go to for the common cold. You’d likely end up missing a kidney. Wand and a Bracer early on will make him less squishy and help him stay in lane. In certain situations, Blink Dagger, Force Staff, and Shiva’s can be effective items for him.
