Top 10 Position 3 (offlane) Heroes
Offlane can be a serious challenge, especially if you’re solo against a defensive trilane. We’ve come up with a list of 10 heroes you should add to your toolbox if you plan on playing offlane.
Position 3, the offlane role, has the difficult task of trying to survive, usually against difficult odds in the hard lane. The heroes commonly played as offlaners are almost always strong escape or tank heroes. A blink or a little extra durability will be the difference between you falling behind in experience or holding out until mid comes to your rescue.
Depending on the playstyle of the opposing team and strategy of your own, you may be expected to solo the safe lane. In this scenario, you’ll often find that semi-carries perform well, which shifts the classic position 3 to something that looks very similar to position 2.
Whatever the tactics of your situation require, once you hit level six you’ll likely be expected to shift gears from desperate defender to a roaming ganker or maybe even initiator, depending on your hero. But until that point, you’ll have to pay close attention to the map and play a tight game so your defense doesn’t turn into a last stand.
Our list of the top 10 offlane heroes starts with…
10. Spirit Breaker
As Barathrum the Spirit Breaker is durable, an escape hero, and a solid initiator, he serves well in the offlane. Early game, get yourself some consumable health regen items and consider a stout shield to block some of the incoming damage you’re sure to feel in position 3. When playing SB, watch yourself against Undying, Warlock, Wraith King, and Necrophos, as these heroes tend to come out on top.
