10. Puck

The fairy dragon Puck has a midlane presence well over 50%, and his extreme mobility is certainly a contributing factor to this. He can ethereally jaunt to his Illusory Orb and then keep enemies in close range with Dream Coil. Magic Wand can be especially useful on Puck, though the use of this item by legions of inexperienced Puck players has hurt this item’s winrating.

But the next day, all the pucks were given. All of them.

  • Linken’s Sphere (61.45%)
  • Scyth of Vyse (60.31%)
  • Dagon (59.09%)

9. Kunkka

The admiral Kunkka does a good job of displaying the versatility we expect to see in position 2 heroes. Carry, disabler, nuker, durable, initiator – he slices, he dices, he does it all! I would describe Kunkka something of a finesse hero, though a beefy one. Torrent has a delay that can be tricky to time, and his ult, Ghost Ship, can miss it’s chance to make a big splash if aimed poorly.

8. Zeus

I remember hating Zeus back when I was in high school in the early 2000’s. Over the patches, Zeus has matured into a much more balanced hero, even if he is still frustrating to lane against. A blink dagger really ups Zeus’s potential to get around the map and pop in for a super nuke. After the damage is done, you can always finish off stragglers with Thundergod’s Wrath.

7. Mirana

You’re probably already iconic with her ability Sacred Arrow. Nothing like a 5 second stun coupled with a healthy chunk of burst to really make you fear for your life. She fills the roles of carry, support, escape, nuker, and disabler. She has all the punch necessary to be a strong position 2 hero, without being pigeonholed in that position.

Like 90% of the time, I play with this Mirana.

6. Invoker

One of the most technically difficult heroes in the game, the Invoker has ten different abilities you can tap into if you know the right combinations of Quas, Wex, and Extort. Well, he has ten different abilities if you don’t freak out in a pivotal team battle like I do and mash the wrong combination of keys. Invoker is another hero with a strong midlane presence. Hands of Midas are a useful early item you should consider, and Boots of Travel are important, as Invoker ties for second slowest move-speed in the game.

I broke a key once on my keyboard playing Invoker. Made the rest of the game real hard.
