The Nanyang Championships Season 2 are scheduled to begin July 6th. We’ll be keeping an eye on developments and updating results as they happen.

What with all the hullabaloo over teams dropping out of Nanayang left and right (get ’em Phil!), someone has to be here to get you guys the results. And, according to my editor, I’m that guy.

Who do we have to look forward to at Nanyang?

That’s a good question. The Chinese qualifiers are really dragging out, though they should finally conclude before today is done. As I write this, a third team from the qualifiers is being decided to fill the place of Team Secret in a match between Newbee Young and Vici Gaming Reborn.

UPDATE: Vici Gaming Reborn has emerged victorious with two wins in a Bo3 series.

Of the teams already determined, the list of participants include:

  • Newbee (CN)
  • CDEC Youth (CN)
  • LGD Gaming (SEA)
  • Wings Gaming (CN)
  • Team Empire (EU)
  • Digital Chaos (AM)
  • WarriorsGaming.Unity (SEA)

I hate to harp on what our other writers have already covered, but I can’t pass on a chance to point out that though this team was marketed to us as “one of SEA’s largest tournaments… [with] 8 of the world’s best DOTA 2 teams.” Only two teams from outside the SEA/China region are making an appearance. You would think with such a massive tournament the organizers would have some kind of backup plan if some kind of catastrophe, like three of your invitees dropping out, happened.

In this case, everything else DID fail. Plan B it is…

Just in case you don’t want the results to spoil your viewing of recorded games, I’ve put themon the next page of this post. I’ll be tracking the results as they happen and updating so you know where to look for answers.
